Warning: New Facebook Tool Could Spell TROUBLE

facebookSo, one day I’m on a friend’s wall posting a nice little quote and thanking her requesting me as a friend when I  noticed another post someone left on her wall.  It went a little something like this:  Hey Mary, here’s a powerful inspirational video I thought you’d enjoy, etc. with a Youtube video attached.  Now there was something intriguing to me about the message because another link was attached. I clicked on it and you won’t believe what I found.

Now being a Criminal Justice major and having worked several years in corporate America as a internal private investigator, I’m predisposed to research.  I’m like a hound dog on a mission and I can’t let up until I get the facts, so I was naturally inclined to click on that link and follow the trail and here’s what I discovered.

There’s a new Facebook tool that you may not be aware of.  In fact, it was just released to the general public on July 6th.  You may have been on the receiving end of this tool, and not even realized it.

Here’s what this tool does and it’s pretty amazing….

It allows you to have your very own customized Facebook application.  Now what does that mean exactly?  It means that you can now send personalized wall posts to ALL your friends and those posts can be either text, video, image or audio.  Brilliant, right?  Let’s say you have 3,000 friends, how long would it take you to send them all a personalized message?  When I say personalized, I mean with their name, just as you would do in Aweber.  You can include action links to your blog, video, etc.

But, stop the presses….

If you’re anything like me, you also see the potential for abuse and major issues with Facebook, like getting your account suspended or banned for sending thousands of messages simultaneously.

So, being the old sleuth that I am, I picked up the phone and got in touch with the actual developer and founder of the software and here’s what I was told.

The messages are not sent all at once.  They are throttled at a pace of 10 messages per minute, as to appear like a human and not a bot.  Hence, it will send about 600 messages every hour.

He told me, “knock on wood” (his words) that no one has ever had their Facebook account banned, although they may have had certain applications disabled, like not being able to include links in messages anymore.

Bring on the SPAM

Now, we all know that once this thing gets out there, it will ignite a deluge of posts from all the uninformed spammers posing as “network marketers” and that’s the problem, along with possibly having your account banned.  Although, to the developer’s knowledge, it hasn’t happened yet, it is very much a possibility.

To his credit, I will say, he is a true marketer and has worked in advertising for many years.  Before July 6th, this product was only used with his private clients to build their marketing campaigns.  He expressed what unfortunately most marketers don’t understand that this tool is intended to “build relationships”, not spam people with business links.

To that end, he’s releasing a how to market properly and build an email list component to this software as well.  Be forewarned, he said the price will go up, once that is added, but anyone who jumps in before that will be grandfathered in at the original monthly cost.

What are some results?

Well, I know some marketers using this and one had 500 people added to their fan page overnight, yet another had some of their Facebook apps disabled as a result of sending about 700 messages, but their account was not banned.  So, you be the judge.  To some, the rewards and benefits just may outweigh the risks.

A carefully thought out campaign using this tool could do wonders for your business.  One of the developer’s clients is a success coach who only uses it to send daily inspirational and quotes of the day and as a result his business has skyrocketed.

Where Can You See More About This?

Here’s the link to see more about this tool and no, I am not an affiliate (though I may kick myself later).

I’d love to know what you guys think about this. Do you think this is a good idea?   I think it’s a great tool, but for right now, I’m a little apprehensive about trying it, but I may do so in the future.  Is there anyone out there who’s trying it now?  If so, what have your results been?

Tools are only as good as the person using them.  To use or any other tool without proper marketing skills and training is like driving a car without brakes.  The car is powerful and it’s moving but inevitably, it will crash and burn.

How To Send an Audio Tweet

Posted at Mashable by  Amy-Mae Elliott

Guys this is a really cool post and these services will make you stand out from all the other noise on Twitter. I just had to share it with you.

*******************************************************

When Twitter’s 140-character limit just isn’t enough to get your message across, or you want to give a tweet the personal touch, why not add some audio?

We’ve already brought you ways to share music on Twitter, but the solutions below will help you share the spoken word. Whether you want to sing happy birthday to someone, rant, or make a heartfelt apology, we’ve found five services that can help you out.

All the services we’ve tested have three things in common — they are all completely free, they don’t require a phone (i.e. they are web-based solutions), and they are all easy to use. There are differences between them, so it’s worth having a read through our experiences so you can see which would best suit your own needs.

1. Chir.ps

Chir.ps is a super simple way to broadcast your voice to your Twitter Twitter followers. After signing in with OAuth, it’s just a matter of entering your name for your personalized Chir.ps page before you can get going on the recording side of things.

The on-screen recording is again, simple — just authorize Chir.ps to use your computer’s mic, hit one button to start, say your piece, and then hit stop. You can preview your recording and once you’re happy with it, add text and then tweet it.

There’s a slight delay before the tweet will hit your stream, and when it does Chir.ps will have added a shortened URL (like this: http://chir.ps/6hb) to your message which people can click through in order to hear your audio.

While still decent, the audio quality of Chir.ps did not seem as great as other services we used, but the site does offer a listen count, so you can see how many people have hit play, which we do like. Here’s what your message will look like when people click through to Chir.ps:

2. AudioBoo

AudioBoo (“because sound is social”) offers an iPhone iPhone and Android Android app as well as an online service, but for the purposes of this article, it’s the web-based offerings we’re interested in.

Once you’ve signed in with OAuth and chosen your AudioBoo username, the online recording takes place in a pop out window, which also gives you the option to upload a common audio file.

If you record via the site, you can talk (or sing, or hum, or groan or whatever it is you want to do) for five minutes, after which you can preview your ramblings. Once you’re happy, give the recording a title and AudioBoo saves it down into the “Your Boos” section of the site.

From here you can choose to share your audio to Facebook Facebook, get an embed code for it, or tweet it, which creates a short URL like this: http://boo.fm/b154817

AudioBoo’s sound quality is good, but there’s no way to see how many people have tuned-in to listen to your broadcast, although there is the capability to comment on Boos. This is what your Boo will look like:

3. Twaud.io

Twaud.io is another service that lets you both record online and upload files. Recording online is easy: Just sign in with OAuth, authorize use of your mic and you’re good to go for a generous thirty minutes worth of record time, which is practically podcast length.

Just hit the record button, hit it again to stop, and then press play to review whatever it is you’ve just uttered. Once you’re done on the same screen there’s a box to enter up to 100 characters of text, then just press the “Twaudio it!” button and you’re done.

Twaud.io’s URLs are super short (http://twaud.io/ls4) and play automatically when someone hits the link. Those who listen to your recordings also get the option to download them, get an embed code, retweet them or comment on them, which is sent as an @reply to the creator.

Sound quality is good, and the site tells you how many listens you’ve racked up, which is also good for an ego boost. This is how your message will appear to others:

4. Chirbit

Chirbit doesn’t offer OAuth sign-in as it’s not designed solely for the microblogging service, but setting up an account is a pain-free process, all the same.

Once you’re in, you can use the service to record up to two minutes of audio, as long as you’ve given the appropriate permission just by hitting the onscreen buttons. After you’ve listened back and decided you like what you hear, you can give the clip a title and then add it into a category.

The default category is a “Chirbit” and any casual users who are interested in occasionally using this as a social tool need not worry about the others (such as “audiobook,” “joke,” “pickup line”), which are designed to help the Chirbit community find content more easily.

To save your Chirbit, you hit send and it will then appear on your Chirbit homepage. To get sharing, hit the cog icon on your recording and the site gives you the option to post it to Facebook or Twitter, making you a nice little shortened URL in the process. Here’s one we prepared earlier: http://chirb.it/5LAfeM. And here’s what viewers will see, which includes the option to respond:

5. ShoutoMatic

As well as offering a paid-for service where “celebrities” will record a message for you to tweet, ShoutoMatic also offers the infinitely more useful and free service of letting you record your own tweets.

Head on over to the site, either sign up for an account, or connect via Facebook, and you’re ready to start “shouting,” as it were.

On the simple interface you just hit to record, review and save the clip. If you’ve signed in with Facebook it will prompt you to post it on there, but you can skip this bit.

After you’ve saved it, you can e-mail, download, post to Facebook or tweet your audio. If you tweet it, then Shoutomatic makes you a neat shortened URL (like http://bit.ly/ckvllv) and adds the text “Check this out” to your tweet, which obviously, you can choose to delete.

There is no listen counter on ShoutoMatic, but people are able to reply directly on your message page. Here’s what anyone following the link to your message will see:

BONUS: Pockets

If you’re in the United States, Pockets lets you send targeted voicemail to an individual Twitter user. As you will see in the video demo above, Pockets will call you and record your message, which is then sent as an @reply to the recipient who can click through to the Pockets website to listen.

Like this post?  Please share it with others by re-tweeting or sharing on Facebook with the buttons above or Bookmark & Share with the button below.  Thank you

3 Must Have Tools To Automate Social Media

As network marketers, we must brand ourselves and try to be everywhere at once.  Most of us accomplish this through using social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, Myspace, etc.  However, making posts to all of these social media sites, and staying engaged with others can be very time-consuming and a little overwhelming.

In this video, I’m sharing with you a few FREE tools that you can use to put much of this on auto-pilot.  Time is something we must learn to leverage because we can never get it back.  If you could cut an hour’s work down to 10-15 minutes, wouldn’t you want to know how?  Well, watch this video and find out.

So what about you?  What are your favorite marketing and business tools?  They don’t have to be for social media exclusively.  Share with us what tools you couldn’t live without in your business.

Any network marketer worth their weight in salt has heard the term of attraction marketing and if you’ve heard it, but you’re not implementing it, then shame on you!  What I’ve found is though many have heard the term, few truly understand attraction marketing and how it comes into play with “finding” the very best prospects to buy your products and join your business.

In its simplest form, the concept attraction marketing is YOU; branding YOU, Inc.  You are branding and promoting yourself, not your business opportunity or network marketing company.  You see, you don’t “find” prospects with attraction marketing, they find you.

Now, why wouldn’t I pitch my opportunity first? Isn’t that the whole point, to get people to join my business?

NOT!

And here’s why.  Your best prospects are in a targeted market and that market is other network marketers.  They could be people who were previously in network marketing before, are currently in it today or actively buying information about it.

Why would I target other network marketers?

  • Network marketers already believe in the business model.  They don’t have to be sold on it like your family members and friends.
  • Serious network marketers have already spent money in the industry.
  • Serious network marketers want to succeed.
  • Serious network marketers are willing and eager to use anything that will help them succeed.

Ok, you and this attraction marketing thing still don’t make sense.  What in the world would I market to other network marketers who are probably in a company already and won’t join me anyway?

Great question, grasshopper!

Allow me to answer with a question; what does every single network marketer need help with? Recruiting customers and prospects, right?  Right!

So, why not market a complete solution to that problem in the form of an attraction marketing system.

You’re going to market two things:

  1. You, Inc., because people don’t join business opportunities, they join people.
  2. Your attraction marketing system because people want solutions!

Lastly, you bring your opportunity into focus as a solution to other problems faced in the industry or with mlm companies specifically.  After and only after you market the “How”, do you market the “Who, What, When, Where and Why” of your company.

Here Lies Old School Network Marketing

This is the exact opposite of how the average networker works and the average networker is BROKE, BUSTED and DISGUSTED because they’re still holding onto the traditional ways of network marketing and those ways are DEAD!

Here are the specific tools of attraction marketing:

1. You, Inc. and the value you share with others – By constantly learning and having a valuable set of skills to share, having access to tools, systems, and leadership, you are seen as a leader and leaders are attractive to other aspiring entrepreneurs, hence “attraction marketing”.

You have value to offer and you give without want.  You provide leadership by sharing this information with others and directing them to systems and training where they can also grow and duplicate success.

2. Lead Capture page – A high-converting web site that offers a compelling offer (free information, video, training, etc) in exchange for the prospect’s contact information.

3. Auto-responderEmail service that allows you to deliver  designed and targeted follow up messages to your prospects to further build your relationship, deliver valuable information that educates, sells your product, service or system on autopilot for you 24/7.

4. A Funded Proposal – The long and short of a funded proposal is the art and science of offering a low priced information product that is targeted to your niche market and provides value to your prospect. Usually in the form of a training course or ebook which provides a fast, high converting retail sale for you so you can monetize your list building.  This way, your business receives ongoing cash and you’re making money off your prospects even if they don’t decide to join your primary company.

5. Affiliate Marketing – Additional offers of valuable products and services in your target niche which you can offer to your list for long term sales. Can you say more money, more money, more money?  Remember, some of these people haven’t joined your primary company, but you’re still making a profit off of them.

Attraction Marketing is a highly effective way to optimize and leverage your home based business. It will explode any business using these tools the right way.

If you want your very own attraction marketing system, fully customized to BRAND YOU including the keys I gave you and MUCH MORE, go here NOW!  OR you can continue to R.I.P. with the other average marketers.

9 Essential Social Media Tips for Beginners

Written by Glen June 4, 2010 at Top Rank Blog

Plunging into social media for the first time can be a bit daunting for individuals or businesses. There is a learning curve when it comes to becoming more social online, and it can take a while to learn what works and what doesn’t.  Here are a few of the best Do’s and Don’ts that can save you time and help grow your social media authority more quickly.

1. Start small

You’ll want to start small and try a couple services out at a time. Oftentimes newbies sign up for every social network under the sun and try to grow each of them. Guess how long they last? Building profiles for multiple social sites is hard work, so it’s best to start by only tackling a couple at first.

Once you find the right ones for you or your brand, then start to narrow your focus on those. Eventually you may want to scale your social media strategy to include more services, but you have to crawl before you can walk.

Start small, and then grow to other social networks as your confidence grows. Success breeds success.

2. Get a widget

Put a widget up on your site for your social networks. The best place to find followers is your own blog or site. Also, it’s much easier to get your readers and friends to vote or retweet your content than strangers. Adding a widget next to your content can help.

Facebook has a widget generator you can use, and the Tweetmeme badge is easy to add to your site as well.

3. Frequently test your buttons and widgets

Start testing which social media profiles have the most impact, then drop the rest. For example, if your site does really well with Facebook shares but hardly ever gets voted on Digg, then drop the Digg vote button.

Oftentimes you’ll see sites littered with tons of widgets and buttons. Having a gazillion widgets at the end of each article only creates noise and annoys the reader. Figure out which buttons are getting clicked, and drop the buttons that don’t convert. Ideally you’ll only have two or three widgets on each page.

You can tell which buttons are effective by using Google Analytics and goals to see who’s clicking what. You can also use A/B to see which types of buttons are getting more clicks.

4. Don’t annoy your followers

Sounds like common sense, right? Unfortunately, lots of companies that are just starting out with social media think the best way to “promote” their brand is to publish coupons, offers, news, and anything else related to their business.

Rule of thumb: if it’s something you personally wouldn’t like to receive, avoid it.

Your social media goal is to be helpful first. People follow and respect brands that are helpful, not self-promoting shills. Give first, then ask.

Try posting useful links to industry articles, answer questions, and engage. The followers, engagement, and ultimately sales will come if you’re helpful first.

5. Don’t fret about follower counts

Don’t believe all the spammy ebooks out there that sell you the notion that you can attract thousands of followers in a matter of days. Sure, you could do that and it’s not hard. But the types of followers who are going to be following you are mostly bots. Or they’re just following you in hopes that you’ll follow them back. Ultimately, they aren’t followers who would engage with you.

You want social media followers that are going to listen and interact with you, and 10 of those followers is worth more than a thousand bots.

It takes a while to organically build up a great social profile. Focus on building great content and being helpful, and the followers will come.

6. See what the pros are doing

Everyone has a different strategy when it comes to social media, and sometimes it’s best to take a look at people who are real social media experts. Lee Odden is a good example of someone using Twitter and Facebook to help people, which in turn grows his social media influence.

There are plenty of fantastic examples of people who truly understand how to interact and build powerful social media profiles the right way. Check out sites like WeFollow to find influential Twitter users within your niche.

7. Don’t overlook niche social media sites

When people think of social media, they typically think of Twitter or Facebook. But there are literally hundreds (maybe thousands?) of social media networks and sites that you can use to help promote your brand. Jut because a network isn’t huge doesn’t mean it’s not going to impact your social media strategy. Oftentimes targeted niche social sites can bring more targeted traffic to your site than larger sites.

If you’re smart, you can use smaller social networks to help promote your site on other bigger social networks. For example, I’ve written posts on web development that have made it to the front page of Dzone, a social media site for web development. Once the article made it to the front page of Dzone, the attention brought a lot of saves on Delicious, and subsequently made it to the Delicious front page. The delicious front page brought even more traffic, and those Delicious users voted the story up to the Digg front page. So, by simply submitting my site on a smaller niche news site with a great headline, I managed to make it to the coveted homepages of both Digg and Delicious.

Niche social news sites can be very powerful, and oftentimes much easier to become influential in than the larger sites. Here’s a list of social news sites organized by category.

8. Find people within your niche to follow on Twitter

The ideal follower on Twitter is one that has similar interests within your niche. You can find like-minded people to follow on Twitter through these  directories and odds are many will follow you back.

Once you’ve started following these people, start interacting with them. Participate in discussions, and retweet things they say that would be helpful to your community.

Not only will this method help build your follower counts, it also gives you more influence within your niche. You’ll find great friends that will help you promote your content and site too. Always remember to give first and ask later.

9. Stay Humble

Social media beginners often try to quickly establish themselves as “experts” within their field, but they have nothing to back it up. (For example, search for “social media experts” on Twitter. You’ll find many with only a handful of followers. Shouldn’t an “expert” have more?)

As with anything in life, nobody likes a know-it-all. Be humble. Ask questions. Teach, but don’t preach. Let others do the hyping for you. And they will if you’re helpful and humble.
