So I was talking with a lady recently that said she wanted mlm success.  Don’t we all?  But she went on to say that she was looking for “an effortless way” to generate leads with no struggle.  Hmmm, no struggle?  I can get with that, MLSP allows me to generate targeted leads everyday without struggle.

 

But what struck me was the word “effortless”?  Thus, the inspiration for this post was born….

Do you want mlm success?  I mean really want it?  It takes work.  I know most people don’t like to hear that, but, sorry, it’s reality.  If you think you want success in network marketing or any area for that matter, apply these six principles.

6 “Have-To’s” to Achieve MLM Success

Quite frankly, I wish mlm success would just happen! I wish I could just click my heels, become a GURU and money would fall from the sky.  I wish my stomach would sculpt itself into a 6-pack even as I sit on the couch watching So You Think You Can Dance eating New York Super Fudge Chunk ice cream.  Oh, how I wish it was that easy!

Okay, enough dreaming, enough wishful thinking.  The reality is being successful in this industry takes work. The sooner we realize that, even lovingly embrace it, the sooner we jump on the highway of success! The fact is that we “have to” do some things!

I heard a saying once that went, “Wish in one hand and spit in the other – then see which one fills first.” It’s not eloquent, but it sure paints a great picture.  By the way,  take that at face value.  It wouldn’t be a fun experiment to actually do.

Without any further ado, here are the six “have-to’s” to achieve mlm success.  You don’t have to wish for it or dream about it! Just be about it and start seeing some results!

1.) You have to know what it is that you want.  Merely wanting mlm success isn’t enough.  What does success look like to you?  Why do you want it?  Do you want more money?  How much?  Do you want more time freedom?  To do what?  Do you want to travel?  Where?  Clearly define what it is that you want and write it down.  Once you do…

2.) You have to decide that you really want it.  This is not the same as knowing what you want.  A decision is stronger.  It triggers commitment.  Decision comes from a Latin word which actually means to cut off all other options.  So a decision to go after mlm success automatically makes failure or quitting non-options.  Do you really want it? Yes?  Proceed…

3.) You have to be willing to sacrifice to get it.  What will you give up to have mlm success?  I know I had to give up Ben & Jerry’s and hot wings to keep that kangaroo pouch from appearing in my stomach.  Now, you may not think that’s so bad, but you don’t know how much I love New York Super Fudge Chunk!

So are you willing to sacrifice sleep, watching your favorite tv shows, hanging out with your friends?  No one’s saying forever, but at least until your check has a comma in it.  This is sacrifice, all of it.  What are you willing to sacrifice for mlm success in your life?  Are you willing to sacrifice momentary pleasures?

In order have mlm success, there must be a desire to work hard in spite of the pleasures that call your name. And if you work it right, there will be plenty of time to reward yourself with the pleasures of your success.

Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won’t, so that you can spend the rest of your life like most people can’t.

Do you want it more that other pleasures?  Really?  Then let’s move on…

4.) You have to be willing to be criticized.  Surprisingly, the average person doesn’t like successful people.  Everyone won’t be thrilled with your entrepreneurial spirit.  Everyone won’t be happy that you now choose to watch webinars or read rather than go to the bar.  Why? Because they don’t have the courage to launch out.  Instead of you being an inspiration to them, they now see you as someone who shines a spotlight on what they could do, but refuse to do.

Some “friends” will actually resent that you make choices they don’t make, even though they could too.  It seems odd, but it’s true.  Just because you’ve decided to create your own destiny, don’t be surprised when everyone doesn’t applaud you and join you on the journey.  It’s not uncommon for marketers to not get support from friends, parents, even spouses.  Can you handle that? Then see number five…

5.) You have to take a long-term approach.  Why do most people fail in network marketing?  Because they take a short-term approach.  They come in with dollar signs dancing in their eyes.  They “try it out” for a week or a month, then they quit.

Perhaps they bought into someone’s lies that they could invest $25 and get $25,000 in 5 weeks.  Really? It sounds good if you don’t think about it.  If that worked, wouldn’t everyone be in that company?

In order to have mlm success, you absolutely, positively must view it as a long-term goal. As Ray Higdon says, it’s not get rich quick, it’s work hard for 12-36 months and get filthy stinkin’ rich.  What do you have that’s better than that option?  Your job?  Not!

Are you capable of seeing network marketing in the long-term? Yes?  Well then you’re ready for number six.

6.) You have to diligently, methodically, and relentlessly work it.  Like a dog on a bone.  Like a fat kid on cake.  Every day, every week, every year. The more you put into it, the more you get out of it.  I read that Zig Ziglar has read for three hours a day for the past 25 years!  That’s diligence.  That’s methodical.  That’s relentless!  Can you do the same for yourself?  Sure you can!  But will you, that is the question?  If you do, you will achieve any dream you set forth for yourself!

Mark Victor Hansen says that “what you want, wants you.” It is entirely possible for you to live your dreams!
