Let’s face it, in network marketing, affiliate marketing, or any type of online marketing, traffic is the name of the game. Having a great website or capture page is like having a restaurant on a lonely dirt road out in the boondocks. The food can be slap your mama good, but if no one knows about it, eventually the restaurant will close down, because it gets no traffic. Here are 4 sure fire ways to get traffic to your websites, so you can start making some money.
Now, a couple things first before I get into that. This is all based on the presumption that your site is optimized to convert well once the traffic gets there. If you’re not sure it is, read 5 Ways To Improve The Conversion Rate on Your Blog from my friend Hector Cuevas.
Secondly, although all of these methods work, they will not work overnight. So if instead of how do I get tons of traffic to my site, your question is how to I get a gazillion visitors overnight, make $1M and retire, then this article won’t help you one bit. I don’t have the answer to that question and neither does anyone else because it just ain’t happening.
Now let’s jump into it.
1. Forums
Find a couple of active discussion forums, join and participate. Two great forums for network marketers are the Warrior Forum and the forum at Better Networker. You can also find forums by going to Google and typing in your niche, the plus sign and the word “forums”. So it’ll look like this:

Now make sure that any forum you join allows you to have a signature file. This is the main reason for joining forums. A signature file is attached to every post you make and it includes your name, tag-line and a link. A link to what? Whatever you want – your blog, capture page, website, etc.
Now will you get a ton of traffic from making one post? No! But if you make say 10 posts a day and you’re an active member of the forum contributing value, you’ll start to generate traffic.
PLUS, the more posts you have, they’re archived in the forums and your signature file stays there forever.
2. Blog commenting
You want to comment on active blogs that have a high readership or should I say low alexa ranking. This will help you in the search engines because most blogs allow you to leave a link which creates back links for you. Note: It must be a do-follow blog.
You can also attract people of your mindset by the quality of your comments. Now, please make sure that you are leaving quality comments that contribute to the blog post. It’s easier to do this if you actually enjoy reading the blog.
You also want to make sure that you’re among the first few to leave a comment. I would say within the top ten. Those are the comments that get viewed the most.
You can use a tool called the Comment Sniper to alert you when your favorite blogs are updated. I’d like to thank my friend Marcus Baker for that tip.
3. Article Marketing
(Yawn)
I know it’s work and it’s boring, but why do so many people talk about it? Because it works! Article marketing is simply writing brief quality articles and submitting them to article directories such as Ezine Articles. When you do this, you give the world the right to republish your articles all over the web. Why do this? Because your article contains something called an author box, also, called a bio-box. This is the area again, where you lead readers back to your blog, capture page, affiliate link, etc.
This s long-term strategy that will definitely bring you traffic and money if you are consistent. One article will not do the trick. You should start with a minimum of an article a day.
There is a formula do doing article marketing correctly and you can learn more from my Article Marketing Series.
You will also want to automate this process with automatic article syndication that submits your articles for you.
Article marketing is a type of traffic generator that even if you wanted to stop the traffic flow, you couldn’t. Again, this takes discipline. You have to dig your heels in and do the work.
4. Social Media
Facebook and Twitter can get you a ton of traffic. Now this may not be the type of traffic that buys from you right away. But it is a way for you to get your brand out there and build your list.
You can create groups, start fan pages, interact in tribes, etc. All of this gets your face and brand out there and creates mini-lists that you can interact with and market to.
Much of Twitter can be automated. Everyday, simply follow people in your niche. You can either do this by searching directly on Twitter or simple following people who follow the gurus in network marketing. For instance, if someone is following Mike Dillard or Daegan Smith, it’s a good chance that they’re a network marketer or interesting in becoming one. Start tweeting value everyday like blog posts and sprinkle your capture page or affiliate links somewhere in between. Does it take time to build followers? Yes. Is it worth it in the long run? Yes.
There you have it. These are 4 ways for you to get traffic flowing to your sites.
There are many other ways, but the main way is simply this: HUSTLE. You have to work! Building traffic is like a snowball effect, you start small and you just keep adding to it everyday.
Whatever method or methods you choose, nothing will replace discipline and consistency and nothing will generate you millions of visitors overnight.
